THIS IS A CUSTOM MADE 14k WORKING SUNDIAL PENDANT

From famed designer John David Cooney, this is one of only a handful of signed, numbered, (and copyrighted) working sundial pendants which have been hand made by this master craftsman in solid 14k yellow gold with a .05ct diamond.

A truly fantastic, totally unique WORKING collectors item, extremely well made and designed to be worn and enjoyed, day in and day out.

BACKGROUND: ASTRONOMICAL RING DIALS ARE ANCIENT TIME-PIECES WIDELY USED WELL INTO THE 18TH CENTURY. A GIFT TO GEORGE WASHINGTON FROM LAFAYETTE THESE DIALS ARE ACTUALLY MINIATURE FOLDING ARMILARY SPHERES A GLOBE OF THE WORLD CONSISTING OF RINGS REPRESENTING CONSTELLATIONS AND IMAGINARY CIRCLES AROUND THE EARTH.

SUNDIAL OPEN: THE UNIVERSAL SUNDIAL, A DISTINCTIVE PENDANT HAS AN ADJUSTABLE LATITUDE THAT CAN BE SET NORTHERN LATITUDES AND GIVES SUN TIME WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF ACTUAL TIME. INNER DIAL HAS ROMEN NUMERALS, JUST LIKE A CLOCK. OUTER DIAL IS ENGRAVED WITH TRADITIONAL DESIGN WORK.

BACK OF SUNDIAL . THE UNIVERSAL DIAL HAS AN ADJUSTABLE LATITUDE FOR NORTHERN HEMISPHERE. THIS IS DONE BY HOLDING THE FACE OF THE DIAL AND SIMULTANEOUSLY ROTATING THE OUTER RING BY HOLDING THE BALE. ONCE YOU HAVE SET THE LATITUDE, OPEN THE INNER RING BY PRESSING ON THE BACK. POINT THE DIAMOND NORTH AND NOTE THE ROMAN NUMERAL WHERE THE SHADOW IS CAST ON THE INNER DIAL.

These are UNISEX Sundial Pendants

 One of five vintage pieces from the same estate we've just listed. The collection has been stored in safety deposit box for several years. Truly sweet 14k white gold and diamond heart containing approx. .42 carats of SI-I , H-I diamonds. The chain is suspended from concealed double bails located behind the heart so that the heart will always hang properly, perfectly centered on the neck. The heart measures 21 x 23mm. The necklace weighs a total of 6.99 grams and the chain is 18" in length. Item#c-mf040811-3 Price $850.

Necklace: TANZANITE & DIAMONDS

This is a graceful Tanzanite and Diamond pendant set in 18k yellow gold and suspended on a 17" chain of 18k yellow gold. The oval Tanzanite which is a rich blue with flashes of violet and purple, weighs approximately .70 carats and is surrounded by a total of twelve diamonds, weighing .03cts each. There are a total of .36 carats of SI or better clarity, G-H color diamonds. The total necklace weight is 4.45 DWT.

Interesting Facts About Tanzanite: Tanzanite was first discovered in the Mererani Hills of Northern Tanzania in 1967, near the city of Arusha and Mount Kilimanjaro. Officially called "blue zoisite" it was first marketed as Tanzanite by Tiffany & Co. who, in 1969 wanted to capitalize on the rarity of the gem, then only found in Tanzania. From 1967 to 1972, an estimated two million carats of tanzanite were mined in Tanzania before the mines were nationalized by the Tanzanian government. Prices for rough material on the open market have increased steadily for the last several years. Tanzanite may chip or break if exposed to moderate blows or sudden changes in temperature, so it is best suited for wear in earrings and pendants. Tanzanite should never be cleaned with an ultrasonic or steam machine. Tanzanite can be cleaned with most any commercial jewelry cleaner or plain soap (Dove or Palmolive liquid dishwashing soap for example) and warm water using a soft brush. Be sure to rinse and dry thoroughly after cleaning.

Stunning emerald cut 9 x 12mm Tourmaline calculated to weigh approx. 2.5 carats set in solid Platinum and accented with .06 cttw of VS clarity top white, G-H color, single cut diamonds. The Platinum pendant is suspended from a 15" 14k white gold chain. This is an estate piece - circa 1940.

NECKLACE and EARRINGS SET

Marvelous hand made 1950's era necklace. Magnificent color. Coral beads accented with 14k yellow gold beads, and a hand carved coral rose. Length of longest strand of coral is 32". The delicately carved coral rose may have been added to the strand at a later point in time.

While the rose is quite lovely, some may be tempted to have the coral beads restrung without it, to achieve a more contemporary look. Yes, we can do the restringing for you if desired.

The earrings are coral cabachons set in 14k yellow gold with omega post clip backs. Absolutely stunning set.
