ABOUT THE DESIGNER of these earrings, Rudolf Erdel : Little more than a week after his worldwide launch of a new platinum jewelry collection in April of 1998, handsome, innovative jewelry designer Rudolf Erdel, 35, died in a kayaking accident in West Hampton, N.Y. Erdel's short but stellar career which began in 1992, included collaborations with such notable names as Paloma Picasso for Tiffany and fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, for whom Erdel helped design the Angel Rings collection. At a press conference during the 1998 Basel Show, Erdel introduced what would be the last collection he debuted, saying then that he hoped his platinum jewelry would be considered "timeless." "I want to create a look that will continue well into the next century," Erdel said. "I want to create something that's timeless and classic, so that people 50 years from now will look and say it's beautiful." Erdel succeeded. These exquisite platinum and diamond earrings ARE timeless.

These are CUSTOM MADE, solid, substantial, and beautifully elegant 14k yellow gold earrings.

The design is a 22mm x 17mm gently fluted oval swirl, surrounding a circle of brushed gold, crowned by a shimmering rosette of fine, prong-set diamonds set in 14k white gold.

Each earring contains seven VS clarity, top white, G color diamonds, approx. .50cttw. These earrings are for pierced ears, and they are equipped with high quality omega backs and posts. Solid gold earrings, not hollow, with a combined weight of 8 DWT. Circa 1950.
