FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION ON THIS
SITE: How does one go about finding/ getting a paid position /on a board of directors? There are a lot of very well qualified individuals vying for paid board positions. So consider creating your own opportunity. The best way to become a welcome guest, is to bring a housewarming gift to the hostess. In other words, do you have the ability to pull together angel investors or venture capital for a promising young company? Can your presence on the board make a serious contribution to the company's fast-track success? If so, do your homework on the product/service being offered by a young company, talk to the principals to get a sense of what they're doing, where they're headed, and learn what prompted them to head in that direction in the first place. If the idea (1) makes sense to you, and (2) you think it will make sense to an investor, start networking to determine what funds are available and then get busy putting together a deal. Your efforts could net you a finders fee, a paid seat on the board, or better yet, it might even get you hired as President. |
