This 1984 Mercedes 300SD Turbo Diesel sedan which needs some basics (brakes, battery, windshield wipers) has simply been parked under a tree in the driveway for better than a year. We've been driving our little 450 SLC instead. But our SLC needed some work, so my husband suggested that we go ahead and sell this car in order to do that.
I really didn't want to sell this one, because our Mercedes diesel is sort of like a hurricane kit security blanket for me. If you went through hurricanes Francis, Jeanne & Wilma like we did, (ghastly!) you'll know exactly what I mean. The diesel Mercedes is the equivalent of a driveable generator with safe fuel storage. I loved this car because of its dual purpose functionality when paired with an inexpensive portable inverter. On the other hand, common sense has to kick in at some point.
I have no idea what the mileage is. Mercedes odometers tend to stop working when they hit a certain point in the low six digit range. We're older, so we didn't drive it very much anyway, and my office was less than ten minutes away from our home.
Like every other older Mercedes on the face of the earth, there's a rusted out area at the bottom edge (right hand side) of the rear window and trunk area. I replaced both front seat covers a while back. The paint job remains absolutely phenomenal. If you ever need to match the paint it shouldn't be difficult. I had it painted years ago by Maaco in Stuart. They'll still have the records of the brand and paint color. Florida is hot and humid, and the car has just been sitting, so the interior will need a major scrubbing.
A/C hasn't been used for a while,
but here's the page that explains that on this particular model and year diesel
Mercedes it's a pretty simple fix.

Just borrowed
a battery to check the engine and it started right up on the very first try.
Oil pressure full, etc. etc. etc.
We just let it continue to run for about a half hour and it ran perfectly.
(1) The windshield wipers are not working. (2) The brakes need to be bled before it can be driven, and (3) It needs a new battery, this one has been sitting too long to even take a charge, so obviously the car WILL have to be towed at time of pick up.

What can the 300SD Turbo
Diesel and a Portable Inverter actually power?
We used it to run the refrigerator/freezer, to periodically use a small microwave, to charge cellphones & tablets, and to run a small portable window a/c at night.
Idling the car with the inverter
attached typically uses about a third of a gallon of diesel per hour. You'll
need to keep the car outdoors with the exhaust facing away from the house, while
parking close enough to use a shorter outdoor waterproof extension cord, but
still far enough away to eliminate the risk of carbon-monoxide entering the
home. And you’ll need a direct connection to your car’s battery terminals. For
anything you’ll connect, use only safety-approved extension cords, dry and undamaged,
that are rated for at least 15 amps. Route them through a dry area where they
cannot be pinched or crushed. Once you’ve powered a couple of devices, you might
be tempted to plug a half-dozen more into a power strip and then plug the strip
into the inverter to increase your options. But unless you’re just charging
iPods and cellphones, it probably won’t work and wouldn’t be a good idea. The
reason: The inverter can’t draw more from your car’s battery than the alternator
can replenish without draining the battery. Inverters can keep at least some
of your home’s essentials energized. But you’ll need to prioritize: Even a smaller,
900-watt PW900-12 (Walmart, Home Depot, etc.) was able to run a freezer, two
refrigerators, two sump pumps, lights, and chargers for various electronics
—but not all at once. The PW900-12, $80, provides 900 watts (1,800 peak) and
7.5 amps; the PW1500-12, $180, is rated for 1,500 watts (3,000 watts peak) and
12.5 amps. Both have two three-prong receptacles and claim to be safe for powering
laptops, televisions, gaming consoles, and other electronics.
(NOTE: Inverter is not included in purchase of this vehicle)
