1988
In 1988 in addition to his other businesses, Bob
owned a small aircraft recovery company. He'd locate and recover stolen aircraft
for insurance companies. The paperwork was mind-numbingly tedious, even in English-speaking
third world countries, and since most aircraft had been stripped of valuable
flight instruments and other components by the time the paperwork was complete,
the flight back to the U.S. could also be very dangerous. You'd actually be
lucky if the aircraft still had seats. Nevertheless the insurance companies
made it well worth our while. In Jamaica alone he had contracts to bring back
multiple stolen aircraft.
But then... Hurricane Gilbert struck. And none of the aircraft were salvagable.
And we couldn't resist creating this card:
1989
1994 - From 1994 to 1999 we were pretty
busy winning prizes and getting written up in a whole lot of newspapers and
magazines.
So that was our 1994 card.
In the midst of all of that we moved to
Stuart, Florida, got hit by four
hurricanes, and beginning in 2006, Bob spent a LOT of time in the hospital.
We adopted a serious pile of cats, AND our sense of humor remains intact.
