PHENOMENAL RINGS

PHENOMENAL DIAMOND RING Center stone is a round transitional cut diamond with small open culet. Diamond measures approx. 12.5m x 7.7mm and weighs approx. 7.8 carats Clarity is a beautifully clean SI2. Surrounding diamonds are SI1 with G-H color. Total diamond weight is approx. 9.98 carats. Ring weight is 11.7dwt. Bi-color, 14k white and yellow gold. The diamond is set in a YELLOW gold bezel, making it difficult to grade color. A 2003 appraisal by a GIA certified appraiser assigned the center diamond a J-K color, but it may be closer to a C-1, (perhaps Q-R) which is a Light Champagne. You be the judge. We are showing it as worn, displayed next to a 5.01 old European cut with E/F color. The ring is seriously drop dead gorgeous and the breathtakingly lively center diamond has very nice proportions. Information taken from October 8, 2003 appraisal in which this ring was appraised at $61,500. An exceptional buy at $48,000. |

RING: Vintage Diamond Engagement Ring: Exquisite big diamond measures 6.82mm diameter. Depth measurement is inaccessible as set. Based on diameter, center Diamond is estimated to weigh approximately 1.15 to 1.19 carats. Clarity is a very fine SI1 with top white G-H color. The 14k white gold setting (marked 585 and acid tested) contains a total of eight, half point full cut diamonds having VS clarity, and G-H color. | RING: ESTATE - VS1 - G, EXQUISITE EMERALD CUT DIAMOND
RING. Interesting History - Art Deco Mounting - Late 1800's Center Diamond This is a vintage mounting, a family piece which originally featured an emerald of significant quality. The emerald was removed for use in a pendant. The remainder of the mounting, which we are given to understand, dates back to the 1930's, languished in a jewelry box until it was eventually paired with this extremely fine inherited diamond. The center diamond was one of several which had been removed from a lavish turn of the century platinum and diamond brooch. The brooch, we were advised, had been dismantled in order for the elderly benefactor to gift the diamonds it contained to various family members. At any rate, once the diamond and mounting were paired, the completed ring was simply returned to the jewelry box for safekeeping, and never worn. In our opinion it would make the perfect engagement ring. The body of the ring is 14k yellow gold. The head which cradles the prong-set main diamond is 14k white gold. The center diamond is quite literally a magnificent emerald cut, crystal clear and measuring 6.8mm x 4.28mm. Because of the configuration of the mounting we are unable to accurately gauge the depth of the diamond but symmetry looks to be very good and we have provided a side shot. We do however have actual weight of the center stone, obtained when it was set. There are a total of four baguettes flanking the center diamond. Now then....look at the close-up of the ring then look at the ring displayed as worn. Because the center diamond has a length of 6.8mm, and because the baguettes are set vertically as opposed to horizontally, the overall diamond view blends in with the sides of the main diamond. This is what is called an optical illusion. The center stone has the look of a diamond weighing roughly TWICE its size. And, as you can plainly see, an admirer's impression of the size of the baguettes is similarly effected. (Oh, don't take our word for it, go look at the dimensions of one carat loose emerald cut diamonds on that great big diamond site.... you know which one it is.... the one that starts with the word Blue****.) Getting back to this ring; Diamond clarity is VS1. Color is G-H. Center diamond is .66 carats by actual weight, and the baguettes are calculated to weigh .18ct. Total diamond weight is estimated at .89cttw. By the LOOK of this ring however, you've got a center diamond that is well in excess of a carat. If you've been searching for a BIG emerald cut diamond but your budget won't stretch to a seven or eight thousand dollar price this early in your relationship, THIS is your solution. Fine clarity, top white color and a BIG look. Now then.....look at the price. Got that? OK.... MAKE AN OFFER. No kidding. We have a SERIOUSLY MOTIVATED SELLER. Just in: ONE OF A KIND. Consignment.Custom made, highly ornate. 1920's - 1930's or earlier. Unmarked, the diamond band (stones go all the way around, eternity style) tests PLATINUM. This is an absolutely killer gorgeous mixed cut (it looks like a combination of an old emerald cut and a sapphire cut) on the shimmering (and gorgeous clarity) canary center stone. Everybody who has seen it in the showcase today has done a double take and said "whoa... major yellow diamond". Certainly looked like it to us, too. Well, we have determined that the center stone is not a diamond, we just don't know what natural gemstone it is yet. It could be a semi-precious Citrine, but we suspect that it's a yellow sapphire.. (so you've got a very short window in which to grab it at this price...before the appraiser gets here and tells us how much to increase the price.)
