An introductory letter from Tracy Ourhaan:

Dear Sir/Madam,

At this time I am interested in a position as the General Manager of a small to medium sized company that believes in growth through well focused marketing and identification and control of cost drivers. I feel that my background lends itself to many avenues but I tend to lean towards Program/Operations Management, Sales Management and Customer Support Engineering Management. My Masters in Business has been geared towards performing the definition, development, direction and measurement of such a position. I have supported corporate, regional, commercial and military aviation applications for large and small gas turbine engines and various aircraft systems. Most recently I have been tasked with developing and steering the small gas turbine business at Garrett Aviation Airwork. The challenges have been met and the business has more than doubled from $1.8M to $5.6M within the past twelve months as well as the percent gross margin increased by 40% from 18.2% in FY1995 to 32% in FY 1996.

In order to further address my Industry and Leadership experiences, I have attached some of the normal requirements for such a position along with my qualifications to satisfy those requirements.

NORMAL REQUIREMENTS and MY QUALIFICATIONS

1) A college degree.
MBA, Nova University (Magna cum laude).
BS., Mechanical Engineering, University of Miami.

2) At least 10 years in an OEM product support role, preferably in a supervisory capacity. For the past Thirteen years I have been directly involved with development, production and after market support both nationally and internationally, with the last eight years being in a leadership, management or supervisory position.

3) Outstanding oral/written communication skills. I have demonstrated the ability to deal with all levels of key individuals from Board Room Executives to Shop Floor Technicians. I have always had to communicate in both written and spoken prose. I have completed at 100% compliance, the Dale Carnegie Executive Polishing Course in Effective Speaking and Human Relations as well as being asked to become a facilitator for future D.C. courses.

4) Strong negotiating and problem-solving skills. I have been to several workshops on negotiating contracts with customers including Managing Interpersonal Relationships and have applied this knowledge successfully on several key issues with major customer accounts. I have also trouble-shot systems and processes for nine years using my engineering and business management background.

5) Strong technical background in the Development and Management Support of OEM products. At Garrett Aviation Airwork, I have been responsible for the entire Auxiliary Power Program inclusive of building a sales and support team that portrayed a total customer support and satisfaction approach. With a well mapped plan and a single focus along with a shop that is as customer focused as the support team, there was only one direction for the program to go, and that was up. Providing the leadership and direction as well as listening to the customer wants and then providing those requirements in a timely manner and at a fair price, the program has exceeded all expectations and is on its way from being fifth in the industry, to being second, and competing with the OEM for after market repair sales.

At Sicma Aero Seat, a division of ZODIAC Corporation, as the Engineering Manager, U.S., I was responsible for all existing and pending regulatory requirements related to the definition of new and existing aircraft seats inclusive of FAA 16G rulings. A majority of time was spent dealing with Boeing Commercial Aircraft Company, Douglas Aircraft Corporation, the manufacturing facility located in Issoudun, France, and various commercial airline customers such as Continental and United to insure milestones were met during definition, development, dummy testing, manufacture, inspection and installation stages. Other responsibilities included budgeting, strategic planning, marketing and sales to all airlines located in the US. and Latin America. Industry board member of Society of Automotive Engineers S-9 sub-committee for Cabin Safety.

At Garrett Turbine Engine Company, now AlliedSignal Aerospace Company, I was responsible for technical and sales support on all ASA manufactured components operating is Latin America and the Caribbean. Responsibilities included on site Hot Section Inspections, recommendations as to the proper maintenance of ASA manufactured equipment, technical presentations of specific repair schemes available during engine repair or overhaul at an ASA repair facility.

At Pratt & Whitney Aircraft using defined properties of selected materials, I configured turbine airfoil cooling designs and flow rates to meet specified airfoil life requirements. Performed detailed thermal, stress, and life analysis and documented the design with drafters and designers to create detailed manufacturing specifications. Followed the process to assure that the design intent was accomplished in actual hardware for test. Analyzed rig and engine data to establish turbine levels of performance.

* Sole inventor of US. Patent #5,192,192, Turbine Engine Foil Cap.

6) A solid knowledge of PC's and Mainframes. I have a minor in Computer Science. I have designed and built the entire PC based network for Sicma America as well as determined which software packages would be most economical and practical for inventory management and accounting. I have developed Digital Electronic Engine Controls for United Technologies as well as defined and installed the PC based network for Worldwide Communication of field personnel at Allied Signal. Am well versed with Microsoft Software Packages such as Windows 95 on a Network and MS Office and have command of most search tools on the WWW inclusive of my own URL. http://www.the-office.com/board/ourhaan.htm

7) Customer satisfaction and Continuous Quality Improvement. I have devoted the past Twelve years to a Total Quality Management / Leadership behavior, evolving through Quality Circles, Q+, C2I (Continuous Commitment to Improvement) and finally Customer Valued Quality (CVQ) where Value = Quality + Speed + Price.

8) Customer service including direct contact with corporate accounts. Development & Measurement of quality standards. I have dealt with two top 100 corporations both internally and externally on various issues. I have dedicated my MBA studies towards a Total Quality Environment conducive to team work and to the development of yardsticks to measure Performance with Ultimate Satisfaction being the Baseline. This causes Design for Invention of techniques for the development of Benchmarks.

Thank You and Best Regards,

Tracy R. Ourhaan
